Blogger dishes on vegan living

Susan Voisin prepares a pan of quinoa with asparagus.

Susan Voisin's Jackson dining room may now be her office, photography studio and in-house props storage facility, but the focus remains on food.

Not all food. Just what fits in the scope of her vegan diet - a personal and increasingly professional pursuit.

The Gluten-Free Vegan by Susan O'Brien helps make the gluten-free lifestyles easier.

Going gluten free probably never will be easy.

That's because those pesky proteins common to wheat and other grains can show up in the most unlikely places, from sour creams and chocolate milks to salad dressings and dips.

  • Mom and Dad brought me lots of fresh veggies when they came to visit, including cucumbers. I don't like cucumber, but hubby does. I poked around online today trying to find some recipes but didn't see anything that sounded appealing.

If you have a cucumber recipe please share! Hot or cold, doesn't matter.

  • I'm convinced that taste is one of the main things that drive us to eat. We crave a certain taste, and that drives us to consume things, a lot of times more than we mean to.

  • A dear friend shared a bounty of fresh squash, and I'm looking for recipes -- anything but frying? If you have a good one, please share with me!

    Thanks,
    Susan

  • After my last trip to McD's, I decided I can make this parfait on my own, and it's so much better. So here's my version of their $1 parfait:

Yoplait Light, Thick and Creamy vanilla yogurt (it's thicker, and fewer calories)
    Blueberries
    Strawberries
    Banana
    Granola (on the organic aisle)

  • I am trying to eat more fresh vegetables, and that includes asparagus. I've had enough stalks grilled on the George Foreman, so I'm looking for new ways to fix it. Any suggestions? (my husband isn't an asparagus fan, so keep the recipes simple, for this non-cook's sake!)
