Making a Comeback

Friends, the Reluctant Runner has been silent for many months, mainly because I haven't done any training. I gave myself two months off after the Chicago Marathon. Then, right when Marathon Makeover was about to begin its 2009 training schedule, I was stricken with back problems which made it tough to sleep, never mind run.
My doctor and therapist wouldn't let me train while I was being treated. But finally the time when I was banned from the road has ended. I'm going to start walking again this weekend. I don't know yet whether I can get ready for the MM Marathon in October, but surely I can do the half. And there are plenty of nearby marathons in January and Februay, so I'm aiming to run one of those.
I've found inspiration in the efforts of my fellow MMers, some of whom are dealing with injuries, too. And I've also been inspired by my friend and former colleague Mike Knobler, who is now a veteran marathoner (14 in 11 states, he gets around). He recently completed the Boston Marathon in the mind-boggling time (to me, anyway) of 3 hours, 30 minutes.
I'll let you know how it goes on the road.
