This time of year, there is food everywhere ... but at my office we've gotten sweet treats every day this week. Our office Christmas potluck was Wednesday, so we all brought in food. But beyond that, we've gotten cookies, cheese straws, brownies, pecans and a host of other not-good-for-you gifts from businesses and individuals in our community.

On one hand, we really do appreciate the guesture. We have a broad base of community support in the Clinton Public School District, and that's a rare thing that we are indeed grateful for.

But on the other hand, all this sugar and fat is really starting to add up. One of my co-workers is diabetic, and this is like torture for that person. I looked in the mirror this morning and I could tell I'm putting on weight again. I've got to lay off all this junk food before next week, when we have Christmas with our families. I don't want my New Year's resolution to be weight loss ... I want that to be a lifetime goal, and I DO NOT want to sabotage myself at this time every year.
