Mental medal - gold, of course!

I now know how an Olympic medalist feels — and it feels pretty good! (that's me in the middle with two of other cycling nuts)
I finished my longest bike ride - 65 miles - Saturday as part of the Cyclists Curing Cancer Century Ride. Despite a head-to-toe ache, I felt good. I set a goal, and I accomplished it.
I know my little ride was nowhere near Olympic proportions, but to me, it was. I didn't have a medal around my neck when friends and I finished, but in my mind I did.
I wasn't alone. All around, up and down the Trace Saturday, you could see it on other cyclists' face. They were going something good — for themselves, and but more importantly, for others. The proceeds from the ride will help Baptist Cancer Services provide cancer victims and their families with a touch of outdoor serenity while receiving treatments at the center or hospital.
I rode with a tag on my back that said "In memory of Maybelle Cagle." Unfortunately the "in memory" tags outnumbered the "in honor" tags.
