Action boosts sports performance

The FUN Cardio activity jumping jack is a simple way to introduce cardiovascular endurance while strengthening the upper and lower body muscles. Vary the basic jumping jack by using the rebounder-mini trampoline. The rebounder will add a bounce that will boost the fun in.
Purpose: The NRG sports swing will simulate various sports actions. The swings of baseball, softball, tennis and golf are enhanced by using the NRG ball trainer. The swinging skill using the weighted NRG ball develops stamina and strength in the deltoids (shoulder muscle group). This is a fun way to become better at any given sport.
Plan: Take your sports stance — staggered feet for baseball or softball, squared feet for tennis, or feet slightly together for golf. Take one handle off the NRG ball trainer. Grab the handle still attached to the NRG ball. Use the correct sports grip or one hand over the top of the other. Inhale while stretching your arm and shoulder back, then exhale while swinging your arm through the sports action (baseball, softball, tennis or golf). Keep your knees slightly bent throughout the swinging motion. Continue the swinging sequence for 1-2 sets of 7-10 repetitions to develop fitness confidence and conditioning with this exercise.
Perfit trainer's tip: Swing smart. Participants should stay controlled when swinging the NRG ball trainer.
Variations: The fitness activities presented in this series are suited for youths 7-17 years of age. Some of the activities are challenging, while others are easier based on your particular age. Adults can also incorporate these FUNctional Fitness exercises to add variety to their routines. The NRG ball training system is available in various sizes from 5, 7 and 9 pounds, which includes the handles. The price range varies with the weight from $60-$80.
