Real Food Should Have Nutrition Labels!
That's one of those things that makes eating better a little intimidating to me. Sure, the labels themselves are filled with arcane bits of knowledge, but the foods that don't even have that are really scary.
I've started working toward the idea of "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." and while this seems very sensible to me, it makes it a little difficult to keep in my comfort zone of being able to find out how many calories I am consuming. I found this site today, however, that seems to address this quite well.
Using that, I quickly determined that my first lunch of (yes, I said first lunch...) a cup of green beans, almonds and a nectarine gave me a good 265 calories. My second lunch of a banana, more almonds and one cup of carrots will yield about 420 calories. Last, my home made protein smoothie for dinner will add on another 610 calories.
Given that I was at my desk and didn't have any particularly good way to really measure things out as precisely as I might have wanted to, these values could be off to some degree, but just having the tool to easily do this really makes me happy. I am looking forward to keeping better track of what I eat and planning ahead more to really kick up the fat loss on the diet side of my fitness challenges, and this is going to be a huge help.

Thanks for the url ... did
Thanks for the url ... did you know that if you create your own Google homepage, you can add a calorie counter to it? I don't know how it compares with the link you provided, but it's neat to have the calorie counter on your homepage every time you open Google.

I have such a google home page but never look at it. The calorie counter might change that for me. :)
Like I said, not sure how it
Like I said, not sure how it compares to the one you're using, but it's a neat feature to add to your Google page. Let me know what you think of it.
