spinning classes
Spinning (cycling) classes are an awesome form of exercise, but a lot of people seem put off by the intensity - or the discomfort from the first time on a spinning bike.
I'm not an instructor, but I've learned a few things from some great instructors at the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton.
1. don't try to pedal at anyone else's pace, but your own
2. if you can't stand up and pedal, try again at the next class - it can take several weeks to build up your leg and knee muscles.
3. if your legs are so wobbly and weak after class that you can't walk down the stairs - that's a good thing. It means you had a good workout.
4. and last but not least, try it more than once! Too many take one class, and then never return - don't let that happen to you.
You'll sweat, ache and think "I can't do this," but you can - and boy, do you feel good when it's over!
