Grilled Hamburgers
By Courtney Taylor
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (regular, chuck or sirloin)
Salt
Black Pepper
Vegetable oil for grill rack
Buns and desired condiments and toppings
Instructions:
Preheat the grill (charcoal or gas) set on medium high with the lid down until the grid is very hot, about 15 minutes.
Break up the ground beef with your hands. If you like the seasoning throughout the meat; sprinkle it over the surface and lightly toss the meat to distribute the seasoning. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions.
Toss each portion back and forth between palms to form a loose ball (as if shaping a biscuit) and pat lightly to form a 3/4-inch patty. Press the center down to form a shallow well to prevent doming.
Lightly brush the hot grid with vegetable oil.
Grill the patties, well side up, until browned on one side (3 minutes for rare, 5 minutes for well done). Grill buns lightly. Serve with desired toppings.
