Keeping the family on track
I guess the main thing we do to make sure our family eats right is not purchasing junk foods and sodas. It has paid off because when most kids are begging for candy bars and sweet drinks my daughter is begging for beef jerky. How can you say no to that? You have to do things in moderation so we do let her have a can of pringles sometimes. Usually when there is a new flavor out. As for my husband and I, we stick to such a tight diet that our grocery list is permanently etched in our minds. No need for a paper list. I have a "carb-up" day one day a week (usually on Saturday) so if I'm going to splurge, it will be then. His metabolism is so fast he can splurge more than me and do just fine. We love our steaks from Russell's, though. Expensive, but well worth it. That's our Friday night treat. Treating yourself is a great way to keep it going because it gives you something to look forward to.

So true ... if you don't buy
So true ... if you don't buy junk food, your family won't eat junk food. We keep fruit around the house, and granola and yogurt. Once you get used to eating food like that, candy bars and ice cream are too sweet and chips are way too salty. It's cheaper, and we're eating better too.
Good for you for sticking to it, and setting a good example for your daughter!
