Sticking to it
Before I started doing this blog series on healthy places to eat in the downtown area, I didn't count the calories in my meals. I tried to eat foods that were healthy, and avoid sugary and fatty foods in general, but I didn't do it by the numbers. Sitting down every day and calculating the value of what I'm eating has really made me cognizant of the calories in all my meals.
It's neat. And it's scary at the same time.
I think about the foods I'd eat before during lunch (especially if I was in a hurry and only had time for fast food), and think of all the calories. Yuck! Now, I'm keeping track at lunch, and when I'm at home in the evenings, I find myself computing the value of my dinners, and breakfasts in the mornings.
I'm really trying to stick to a 2,000-calorie or less routine. It's not easy, but I hope I can continue to stick to it once my blog series is over.
