Mississippi Blues Marathon

I've run Memphis. I've run Philadelphia. I've run Houston. I've run the Marine Corps. None of them can compare to the Mississippi Blues Marathon. It was by far the toughest marathon I've run. It's also one of the best managed that I've run. Hats off to John Sewell and his team of volunteers for putting on a first-class event.

The hard part is over

This weekend I completed a 22-mile run to cap off a 42-mile week of running. It was a tough week just because of the weather conditions, school functions, work and a head cold that is creeping up on me.

20-mile run

Today's 20-mile run went well. The weather was nearly perfect, and I had no physical issues. The pain in my calf muscle from a couple of weeks ago did not rear its ugly head today. That's a huge boost to my confidence.

If I can run this well on race day, I might be able to break the four-hour mark. The Blues course is very hilly, so my time may be a little slower than on my training runs.
